About Me

I'm a weird kid from a town you've never heard of. I'd rather you write your own stories than read mine and I am not sure how I feel about blogs. However, I have tried keeping a journal for years, but my brain works way faster than my writing hand, and I get distracted easy. So here's a journal that I might be able to keep. And it's even waterproof. I am a horrible speller, I use words that people tell me aren't words, I put commas all over the place and I capitalize whatever I want. Deal with it :)

The Cello

Bass guitar was the first stringed instrument I learned how to play, I played trumpet for like 7 years back in highschool and elementary school, but it wasn't by choice. Bass was the first one that interested me. (although trumpet is now probably my favorite instrument, and who knew that 7 years of band would teach me so much about musical theory. I didn't even think I was paying attention)
About a month ago a few friends and i went to see a couple friends play in Vancouver. My friend Jeff Andrew who usually plays solo played accompanied by a drummer, Kennan, Who I knew from the Joey only Outlaw band, and is my favorite drummer. as well as a dude playing upright bass. Not only was the trio amazing, but seeing someone play an upright bass in what felt like a folkpunk band, made me realize how much I want to play one.
Now Its hard to find an upright bass for under $1000, but my roomate Thom has a cello. I thought, hmm its small and weird, but maybe I can play it like a miniature upright bass. Although the tuning is different, it became an instant obsession. Thom told me it would be too quiet and not sound good, but I quite like it. Not to say that I will not pick up a full sized upright bass in the future, but for now, cello is quite fun.
The only problem with the cello is that Thom paid like $800 bucks for it, and that's a lot of money. I can tell he gets nervous when I keep it in my room for a few days.
Remembering that my mom has just about everything in the world, I thought to ask her if she has a cello I could use.
She said she thinks she could dig her old one out, and that it was in pretty good shape.

So aside from the neck breaking off, the back panel being completley off, and One of the F-Holes being smashed in, I have some work to do.
